Parramatta Referees Celebrate Grand Finals In Style
Telstra Premiership Grand Final Day will be a greater celebration for the PDRLRA Inc in Season 2009 with two great achievements by its members.
Russell Smith, Premier Squad Head Coach today announced that PARRAMATTA REFEREES LIFE MEMBER GAVIN "FUNKY" REYNOLDS will officiate The Toyota Cup Grand Final between the Melbourne Storm and the Wests Tigers. Gavin has had a stellar year, refereeing the Toyota Cup and officiating on the sideline in The Telstra Premiership. When told of the news Gavin was heard to remark "I'm very proud to be appointed to the Toyota Cup Grand Final. Its a great reward for the hard work I have put in this season. This is certainly the biggest game of my career and I hope I can do the NRL SQUAD and Parramatta Referees proud". Gavin also said that he hoped the appointment of him and Paul Holland can demonstrate to all members of what can be achieved in refereeing and and further testament to how strong the Parramatta Referees Association is.
When 5pm rolls around, another of The Associations Good Guys will also be proving that Parramatta Referees do it best. Head Coach of The NRL REFEREES SQUAD ROBERT FINCH announced earlier today that Tony and Archer and Shayne Hayne would officiate as the Referees in the 2009 decider, the first with the TWO REFEREE SYSTEM. Of most importance was the appointment of PARRAMATTA REFEREES LIFE MEMBER PAUL "DUTCHY" HOLLAND to his first Telstra Premiership Grand Final. Dutchy was asked how he felt when he heard the news, and to be honest this is a family timeslot so I wont repeat his exact words!! "Mate I'm proud to be a Parra Ref and developed my way through the grades. Thanks to everyone who has supported me, it has made all the difference and I know I'll do The Association proud". The 2nd of the Sideline Officials is David Abood.
Bill Harrigan will be the video referee for the game, and as much as he isn't a current member of The Association, he is certainly a Parra Boy at heart and we will claim him as our own! Another great achievement for a Parramatta Referee.
The PDRLRA Inc is extremely proud of Gavin, Paul and Bill. We wish all of them well and hope that they have blinders and the games are remembered as greats.
